Hey Guys,

Just a quick question for everyone who lives in the Campbelltown, Camden, Narellan, Mt Annan, etc.... macarthur region.

Are there any good roads in this area to go riding?

When I say good roads, I mean lots of corners, with relatively good road surface.

When I go riding I normally head down to bulli pass, then follow the coast road along Sea Cliff bridge to bald hill. Then through the natio to waterfall then basically home again.

Problem is, it's a 2 1/2 hour round trip, and all the freeway riding is wearing the middle of my rear tyre... hence the reason I'm asking for any good local roads.

This will sound like I'm one of those people who day dream about buying all sorts of things (I am actually :) ) because it looks cool or whatever.
I was bored and saw the wheel jockey and just bought it, then saw and bought one of the clearance jackets...offtopic
Like an adolescent.

Anyway I was wondering about purchasing front and rear Galfer discs for my K7 gsxr750 as well as front and rear pads.
There seem to be a few items not in stock. Rear disc and front pads.
What would the lead time be on each of those items?

And offtopic again, would I be a try hard having all these race spec gear on bike and not have been to the track yet? lol

Being a new rider, I am dreaming of the day when I can trade in my learner legal bike and upgrade to something else. I've got either the Honda CBR600RR or the Suzuki GSXR600 in mind. Problem is, I don't know much about either, and I don't want to invest my hard earned dollars in something that could be a lemon. Anyone got any thoughts/comments on either bike, positive or negative? Any other bikes that I should have my eye on?

Hello forum readers... my name is Chris and I am the BGW I.T. person designing the site, and doing lots of back end tinkering.

I finally got off my butt and bought a bike and thought I would share the experience.

Reading Mat's recent post in the last monthly newsletter got me thinking. Do I need to save a stack of cash to get some good hardware? The answer in the end was no. I trolled ebay for a week or two and found a gem in Newcastle so I didn't have the change of state plate hassle.

It was a Honda CBR1000F SS 1987 model that caught my eye. On ebay there were two running. One was severely under kayed for its age and the other was typical k's. I phoned the under kayed bike owner first thinking it might have been a shed bargain. At $1600 with no-rego this would be a steal. The guy seemed alright but then I wasn't convinced. He couldn't tell me if it had been clocked or not. He knew part of the history of the bike but it wasn't enough to seal the deal.

I spoke to Geoffrey about it and he reckons it was probably clocked then. On to the other bike. Again... same year and same model but in black and red. I don't usually go for black bikes for visibility reasons but at this price it would be a good deal. I called the owner and spoke to Steve. He was a good bloke and you could tell by the way he was talking that he was a straight shooter. I got the bikes full and sordid history including the time since Steve had had it. I was most definitely into it... this could be my bike.

This was an ebay sale and it was opened at $2000 with no bids. I knew that it may not sell and I could then re-offer so I waited. The auction ended with no bids. I knew Steve would be eager to move it and I was only willing to pay $1500 considering this would be a sight unseen trust sale. Steve told me he would think about it. Five minutes later he was back on the line saying that he was fine with that price.

Finally... a bike in my life again!

Guys, if you have ever a girlfriend that isn't into bikes, keep the bike. I gave up part of my soul when I sold my last Suzuki VX800 back in 2002. The partner was half the fun the bike was in the end.

I had a little while to wait as I was going down to Sydney for work and logistics just didn't pan out to have me riding back from Newcastle to Northern NSW where I live.

I put in orders with many bike moving companies for a quote and Bikenuts had the best price and their rep was good in their testimonials so i picked them. I paid via paypal and kept on with my work week.

The day I was flying back from Sydney I got a phone call whilst waiting for the plane from the Bikenuts driver to tell me the bike had been delivered. It was picked up less than 24 hours before so this was stellar service in my opinion. My bike had beat me home.

Later that weekend I got an opportunity window to take it home. It started roughly as Steve said it would but then was like new once warm which is typical of an older bike. I got it home and started her daily for the week waiting for the next ride.

Just last weekend I finally got an hour to ride my bike and have a good look over it. Its a diamond in the rough. This bike was previously stolen before Steve got it and his mate probably sold it to him thinking it was cursed or something. Steve was selling it as he was more of a cruiser bloke and this was in his words, "too f**ken fast for an old fella!". I spotted cracks and dings all over it and though of restoring it and then had second thoughts as in this condition people are more likely to ignore it... so its a sleeper. I pulled on my Joe Rocket Blaster jacket, JR Super Speed boots and JR GPX Gloves that had been waiting for this moment. Starting the bike on choke it auto adjusted itself until warm and then I cautiously went down my drive and local main road which is all dirt until I was on what my daughter calls "the black road".

Then we were off... the warmth of the engine was welcome considering how cold it was. My jacket was excellent and I was only feeling the full thrust of the wind against me in my open face helmet. I was thinking of an upgrade or maybe getting some goggles instead. The corners railed in front of me as I took them smoothly and carefully. I hadn't really ridden much since 2002 only loaning Jespers previous M50 to visit my Mum once on a work visit to Sydney.

The ride into town was a lot of fun and I noted the fuel gauge sitting too close to empty. Blasting the throttle I killed all speed limits and in this no-limits area I was still aware that there might be some Boss Hog looking for revenue so I pulled back. Even 100k's felt blisteringly fast on this bike and with a twitch of the wrist I was zipping past queenslanders that were touristing locally. In town in no-time I enjoyed every moment of the wind in everything. I went to the local fuel station, filled up on less than twenty (gotta love that!) and was off again home. The ride into town here is about 25k's so its a decent ride. The corners sweep well and I was over cautious considering the light drizzle. The sky was blasting beams of light amongst the clouds as it was getting close to sundown.

I rolled into my driveway and found my parking rock as the ground is too mush here to stand it easily. What a ride! For $1800 bucks delivered I sure got me a bargain.

If you are thinking bike... do it! You will not regret it!.

Cheers
Chris
