I love my GSX1400 its about the only thing in this world I actually own. Full yoshi Ohlins shocks wavey brake discs braided lines all the good stuff. My dilema is we just had a baby (well 5 mths ago) and I really could use the money. If I sell the bike I can pay off the credit card but then no bike and knowing me I'll just run the card up again. Or moth ball the bike at least no more rego and insurance until things pick up. Any ideas out there??

well thats a tough spot ur in..... do the family thing or the "me" thing..... I think you will find if you sell ur bike you wont get another, funny thing about toys is once you get a family you give up your toy's... is so unfair :(

Wow, thats a tough call CK; only you can make those types of decisions which best serves you and your family my friend. In this case, and I speak from experience here, opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one - butthe bottom line is, which situation will best work for you buddy -

Mothballing the bike may work, but then there will be days when you wish you could just throw a leg over the mistress' and ride (1400 of course) - on the other hand, there will always be bikes out there, and like Murphy's law, you always wished you didn't sell the bike (if it came to that).

I wish you the very best of luck with this one buddy, I really do

Keep the bike mate.... I have 2 girls (3 and 1 years old), and a lot of people commented that I should sell my bike before having kids..... why? .... just because I have a family now, doesn't mean I should just stop doing the things I enjoy.

And by the way... If you do sell your bike, you'll regret it when the missus and kids are driving you up the wall and you have no form of escape.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Do not sell the bike!

Now that the GSX1400 is discontinued it will become a much sought after bike, and you will regret it every day.

As you said, at least mothball for a short time in required, but do not sell it.
Like everone says, it will be many many years before you get another, if at all.

Cheers
Geoffrey

Yep dont sell the bike as you own it outright.
What we did over 15 years now was to get a loan from the bank to cover the credit card & then GET RID OF THE CREDIT CARD.
You won't believe how much better your life will be once the plastic card is gone.

cheers

You keep hold of your bike mate. Things have a way of working out. As long as bub has all the gear then you are sweet. Have three kids myself and the release of a good bike ride will keep you sane, go insane and you are no good to anyone. So by keeping your toy you will be helping the whole family. Least you could do really.

I would have to agree with Rob here, you need your time alone when you have kids dont give up your hobbies...:)

Keep the Bike so the misses can have the car. Ride the bike to your weekend job and cut up the credit card. I have an agreement with my wife, every six weeks I go on a desent two day ride. That way I don't carry the guilt factor for not spending time with the family. While your at it spend some quality time with the racing midget and give the misses sometime for herself doing her own thing, unlimited no matter how weird yoga classes may sound.
